Parent of the Year Award

About the Award

Do you have a parent or guardian who has gone above and beyond to support you over the years? Take the time to recognize that individual by nominating them for the 2014 Parent of the Year Award!

The Northern Kentucky University Office of New Student Orientation and Parent Programs seeks to recognize the parent/guardian/caregiver (hereafter known as “parent”) that has made a significant influence on his or her student's life. This award honors a parent that has supported, guided, encouraged, inspired, and positively influenced the life of his or her student.

• Must be nominated by a current NKU student.

• The nominee may nominate both parents in one application.

• Nomination forms must be received by Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 4pm.

To be eligible to win, all nominees must be registered to attend Family Weekend (October 3-5) and the Parent of the Year Luncheon (Oct. 3 - 12:30-2pm).

Congratulations to Our 2013-2014 Parent of the Year, Amira Zekic!

2012-13 Parent of the Year

The winner of the 2013-2014 Parent of the Year is, Amira Zekic, nominated by her daughter, Arnela Zekic.

In her essay, Arnela wrote, "My mom isn't someone to just look up to, but someone to try to be. She reminds me every day not to give up, to always believe the future is brighter if you work for it, and the greatest gift she gives is her endless love. If one day I have half the bravery, courageousness, wisdom, or love she has, I will feel accomplished."
